COUNSELING AND CONSULTING

Hi, I'm Christy Romero,
a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) and EMDR Certified Therapist serving Lafayette, Louisiana. My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, humanistic, and attachment-based. I integrate evidence-based practices including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Polyvagal theory, mindfulness, and somatic work. My goal is to help clients feel safe, supported, and empowered as they move toward healing and growth.
I believe meaningful change happens within a trusting therapeutic relationship. I tailor my approach to honor each client’s unique needs, strengths, and lived experiences, meeting them with curiosity, respect, and compassion.
I strive to offer a warm, compassionate, and approachable presence where clients feel comfortable being themselves. I am a lifelong learner and am deeply committed to ongoing training and professional development so I can provide thoughtful, effective, and ethical care.

Specialty
I specialize in working with women struggling with anxiety, panic, burnout, and the effects of trauma. Many clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by the demands of life while also carrying the impact of experiences such as sexual abuse, relationship trauma, emotional neglect, or unhealthy relationship patterns. Through EMDR and other evidence-based approaches, I help clients heal from the past, find relief from distressing symptoms, and move forward with greater freedom and self-trust.
Catholic Counseling
As a practicing Catholic, I understand the important role faith can play in healing, relationships, and personal growth. For clients who desire it, I offer faith-integrated counseling that combines evidence-based therapy with Catholic values while honoring each client's unique faith journey.
Whether you're navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, or spiritual concerns, counseling can provide a space where emotional well-being and faith are both respected.
Education and Background
I have worked in the mental health field since 2000 and bring over two decades of experience supporting individuals through a wide range of life challenges. Since 2007, I have served as a high school counselor, which has given me extensive experience working with adolescents, families, and complex developmental concerns. I began my private practice in 2020, where I continue to work with individuals seeking meaningful growth and healing. Find out more about me by visiting christyromerolpc.com.
Beyond the therapy room
When I'm not in the therapy office, I'm usually busy keeping up with my greatest adventure—being a wife and mom to five children, ranging in age from 26 to 3! Life is wonderfully full and often a little chaotic.
In my free time, you'll often find me with a crochet project in hand or listening to an audiobook while tackling everyday life. My favorite forms of self-care are simple ones: evening bike rides, baking a batch of chocolate chip cookies, and finding small moments of quiet in a busy day. These practices help me stay grounded, present, and connected—both in my personal life and in the work I do with clients.
