Hi, I'm Blyss Dean,

a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) at Arise Counseling and Consulting. I believe the relationship we build together is one of the most important parts of therapy. My goal is to create a warm, supportive space where you feel safe being yourself and talking openly about what’s going on for you. You know your life better than anyone else, and therapy is a collaborative process where we work together at your pace.

I work from an Internal Family Systems–informed perspective, which means we’ll explore the different “parts” of you with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment. Building awareness of these parts can help you step out of patterns that no longer serve you, develop greater self-understanding, and find more balance and clarity in your life. I believe that when we approach ourselves with understanding and compassion, real healing and meaningful change can happen. I also utilize EMDR therapy to help clients process past distressing experiences. EMDR supports the brain’s natural healing process, helping difficult memories feel less overwhelming and less present.

Children and Adolescents

I also enjoy working with children and adolescents using this same foundation of curiosity, awareness, and compassion. Helping kids understand their emotions—how they show up in their bodies and influence behavior—can be incredibly empowering. Through play therapy, younger clients are able to express themselves, build coping skills, practice problem-solving, and learn healthier ways to manage big feelings. I also believe supporting and strengthening the connection between caregivers and children is a key part of helping young clients grow and thrive.

Education and Background

I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University. Before becoming a counselor, I spent more than 15 years teaching elementary school, homeschooling, and tutoring international students in English. I’m also a certified yoga instructor and have experience teaching yoga, breathwork, and introductory meditation, which often influences the way I think about mind–body awareness in therapy.

I’m passionate about continuing to learn and grow as a therapist, and I enjoy deepening my understanding of mindfulness, neuroscience, emotions, and the counseling process. As a PLPC, I offer sessions on a sliding scale and work under the supervision of Julius Austin, LPC-S and Christy Romero, LPC-S.
